Before the quake which killed hundreds of thousands, the Mars and Kline Psychiatric Center housed approximately 110 patients in Port-au-Prince's only psychiatric hospital. After the quake many family members removed their loved ones form the hospital for fear it may collapse. There remained about a dozen patients who now living in substandard conditions. Sleeping on bare concrete floors with urine and feces. Some men are nude, walking about a barren courtyard, some remain in small cells behind rusty steel doors secured with padlocks.
