7:15PM-Meeting called to order by President Susan Walsh. There were 54
members attending, so there was a quorum in attendance. Susan Walsh announced
that 2003 WHNPA/Senate Photographers Gallery Christmas Party would
be held on the evening of December 9 in the Mansfield Room on Capitol
Hill. Susan also reminded members that the 2004 Eyes of History Gala would
be held again at the Omni Shoreham on May 22, 2004. The deadline for Eyes
of History still photography contest is Tuesday, January 27, 2004. The
drop-off/shipping address for entries is TBD.
Treasurer Jeff Lawrence was not in attendance, so there was no financial
briefing. Those interested in information on current finances should contact
Jeff at jlawrence@krtinfo.com or Secretary Bob Pearson at bobpearson@cox.net.
SPEAKERS:
The speakers for the evening were
Richard Lopinto, vice president of SLR camera systems for Nikon, Inc.
Joining Mr. Lopinto were Steve Heiner from the Nikon software division
and Scott Andrews from Nikon Professional Service/Washington.
Richard Lopinto presented a detailed and insightful presentation on the
new Nikon D2H professional digital camera, the latest professional digital
camera from Nikon. The highlights of the cameras capabilities and
specifications included:
-8 frames-per-second firing
-The new LBCast chip, replacing old digital imaging technology
-37 millisecond shutter lag time
-wireless 802.11b capability
-40 frame buffer
Lopinto and Heiner also demonstrated the new Nikon SB800 flash, with built-in
remote trigger technology.
Steve Heiner presented a detailed demonstration of Nikon software working
in conjunction with the wireless technology, including the new NikonView
and Nikon Control software.
Meeting adjourned at 9:20PM.
