NATIONAL PRESS CLUB - WHNPA PANEL DISCUSSION, JANUARY 20, 2010
President Obama: One Year Later
The White House News Photographer's Association will highlight four award-winning visual journalists in a panel discussion highlighting their images and experiences in cover the first year of the Obama Administration. The panel will include: Stephen Crowley, Staff Photographer, New York Times; Charles Dharapak, Staff Photographer, Associated Press; Brooks Kraft, Photographer, Time Magazine; and Jim Long, Videographer, NBC News and Marvin Joseph, Staff Photographer of the Washington Post. The panel will be moderated by Paul Morse, former White House Deputy Director of Photography.
The event will take place at the National Press Club on January 20, 2010, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Seating is limited.

MEMBERSHIP MEETING -- Friday, Feb 12 at National Geographic 's Grosvenor Auditorium. Meeting begins about 7:00 pm.
One item on the agenda for the General Membership meeting tomorrow night will be nominations for members of the Executive Board of the WHNPA. The Nominating Committee will present its slate of candidates and then the floor will be open for nominations for all of the positions.The offices scheduled for election are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, 1 - three year board term for stills, and 1 - three year board term for electronic media. Please remember that our by-laws state "All candidates for elected positions must be qualified as Active or Life Members in good standing at the time of nominations, and must have given advance permission to be placed in nomination." The election will be conducted in April.
*** Meeting will be held at National Geographic Auditorium, featuring presentations by 2010 still contest judges, starting approx: 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
The Eyes of History contest judging takes place February 13 - 14 , 2010, at National Geographic
Judging is open to the membership and the general public; Sat. and Sun. judging starts approximately 8:30 -9:00 a.m.
Northern Short Course Judging- Saturday, Feb 20 at American University
Sat Feb 20 --Photo Judging of the Northern Short Course Photojournalism Competition www.northernshortcourse.com Saturday February 20, 930 am-6:00 pm American University Mary Graydon Center Third Floor Wechsler Theater Please come to observe the judging of nearly 1000 entries in 19 categories including, still images, photo stories and multimedia. This competition is for members of the National Press Photographers Association northeast region. They represent the area’s prominent professionals who work for newspapers, magazines and other news organizations. The three judges include America University professor Bill Gentile, former Time Magazine Photo Editor and currently AARP Photo Editor MaryAnne Golon, and former White House Photo Editor and US News Photo Editor Carol McKay.

DULLES AIRPORT EXHIBITION - WASHINGTON, D.C., THROUGH OUR EYES
Travelers to and from Washington will have an opportunity to view a major exhibition by The White House News Photographer Association. Forty-four photographs with photographer’s credit are now on display in the halls of the C-Gates of the AeroTrain System. These gates support United Airlines and various foreign airlines serving Dulles. The photographs in this exhibit will rotate so other photographs from WHNPA members will be seen in the exhibition. Members will recall the solicitation for images for this exhibit by Heidi Elswick. Members should thank WHNPA president, John Harrington, Tara Hamilton, Public Affairs Manager, and Margaret Bishop, the exhibit project manager, Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority for this exhibition.
