2009 STUDENT CONTEST JUDGES
SADIE QUARRIER
Sadie Quarrier started working at National Geographic Magazine in 1992. In 1998 she accepted a job as a Photo Editor and Designer at Smithsonian Magazine. She moved back to National Geographic in 2000 to become a Photo Editor for the Book Division where she helped produce over a dozen books, two of which received national awards. Two years later she returned to NGM as a Sr. Photo Editor and has won several awards for her editing. Sadie is currently in charge of the photography side of NGM’s adventure stories and edits a range of other stories as well. She is a voting member on National Geographic Society's Expeditions Council.
CHIP SOMODEVILLA

Chip Somodevilla is a staff photographer for Getty Images based in Washington, DC. A 1995 graduate of the University of North Texas, Somodevilla worked for the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Detroit Free Press before moving to the nation's capital in 2004. Somodevilla was twice named Michigan Press Photographer of the Year and was awarded the Political Photo of the Year by the White House News Photographers Association in 2007. His work has been honored by the University of Missouri's Pictures of the Year International and the National Press Photographers Association's Best of Photojournalism competitions. Chip's photography has been published in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report and many other publications. He lives in Washington with his wife and daughter.

Results will be posted in The Eyes of History 2009 Contest
Judging for the Eyes of History 2009 STUDENT CONTESTS will take place on March 7, 2009.
The public judging will be held at the Associated Press Headquarters in downtown DC starting at 8:30 a.m.
All are welcome to come hear the judging and hear the judges comment on the winning work.
Judging Address: 1100 13th Street NW, Suite 700, Washington DC 20005."
A photo ID is required to enter, and observers will be escorted to the judging venue by a WHNPA member
