Judging for the Eyes of History 2008 VIDEO PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO EDITING CONTESTS will take place on Saturday February 8 and Sunday, February 9 at National Geographic Channel studios.
The public is welcome to observe the contest.

Brandi Paulson, WKYC-TV, Cleveland

Brandi Paulson has been working in television news for 10 years. Currently she works in Cleveland, OH as a Special Projects editor for the local NBC affiliate WKYC. Prior to that she worked for 6 years at a FOX affiliate where she spent 5 of those as the senior editor in their Special Projects Dept. She has been honored with 5 Emmys awards and more than 15 nominations. She graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a B.F.A. in photography and video. In 2004 she took second place as Editor of the Year in the NPPA Best of Photojournalism. She is currently training to run a marathon for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society this spring.
Matt Rafferty, WJW-TV, Cleveland

After graduation from Ithaca College with a B.S. degree in Television Production in 1985 and working at WFMZ in Allentown, PA, Matt was hired by CNN in Atlanta were he became a video tape editor. After 3 years at CNN and 3 1/2 years at WAGA in Atlanta, Matt moved north to WJW in Cleveland and is now a video editor working on news and special projects. In 2006 and 2007 Matt was named the NPPA runner up Video Editor of the Year and he has been honored with 11 other NPPA editing awards including the 2003 Cutting Edge Editor of the Year. In addition he has also won 11 Emmys, a Gabriel Award and awards from the Cleveland Press Club and the Associated Press. In 2005 Matt was honored to receive a national Edward R. Murrow award and an Alfred I. duPont award. Matt has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Cleveland Chapter of NATAS, he was a judge for the 2003 NPPA's yearly editing contest and he has been a member of the NPPA Cutting Edge faculty since 2005. Matt lives in Hudson, Ohio with his wife Leah and their two daughters Sophia and Rachel.
Kevin Rans, Freelance
Kevin Rans has been a photojournalist for 18 years. He most recently worked at WSVN in Miami, known for their fast paced breaking news style. While there he covered a number of national stories including many hurricanes and their aftermath, OJ Simpson, the Anna Nicole Smith saga, and the deadly Chalk's plane crash off Miami Beach. He also covered last years Super Bowl in Miami and traveled to Arizona for the BCS National Championship. Prior to WSVN, Kevin worked at WNDU in South Bend, Indiana, for 15 years. There he received several awards including Best General News Story from the Indiana Associated Press, Best T.V. Feature from the Society of Professional Journalist and Best Coverage of Minority Issues from the Indiana T.V. Association. He also spent a week inside the Benton Harbor Schools working on the series "A School System Under Siege," and covered days of rioting that erupted after a deadly police chase. Kevin traveled with Notre Dame's football team for many of their Bowl appearances and covered the Women's basketball team's National Championship. He is a graduate of Indiana University.
