ZHARI BATTLE GROUP
The Zhari region in Afghanistan is the most volatile area in the country and the scene of heavy fighting with insurgents, and has become the site of the largest land battles after the war began. In the last three years the Afghan Army has begun to field it's own battle groups to try and backstop the escalating violence and lack of NATO troops to hold the ground. As a result the soldiers in Zhari district are involved in daily clashes with insurgents.
