Your 2012 membership renewal notices have been sent out. You must be a member in good standing in order to enter any of the upcoming contests. This includes being current in your dues. Some contest information will be included in the mailing, so please read carefully. Remember to renew!

This year contest judging will be held at National Geographic the weekend of February 24-26, 2012. There will be presentations by some of the judges at the general membership meeting on Friday night, Feb. 24, 2012. Judging on the 26th and 27th is open to the public, so please spread the word and bring a friend and your students, if you teach.

WASHINGTON, D.C., THROUGH OUR EYES - ongoing WHNPA photography exhibition at Dulles airport

Travelers to and from Washington will have an opportunity to view a major exhibition by The White House News Photographer Association. Forty-four photographs with photographer’s credit are now on display in the halls of the C-Gates of the AeroTrain System. These gates support United Airlines and various foreign airlines serving Dulles. The photographs in this exhibit will rotate so other photographs from WHNPA members will be seen in the exhibition. Members will recall the solicitation for images for this exhibit by Heidi Elswick. Members should thank WHNPA president, John Harrington, Tara Hamilton, Public Affairs Manager, and Margaret Bishop, the exhibit project manager, Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority for this exhibition.

The clip features an overview of the Association's history, along with archival footage of such memorable events as the destruction of the Hindenberg, Harry Truman the morning after he won surprise re-election, President Johnson lifting his dog by the ears, the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan, and other once-in-a-lifetime events covered by WHNPA still and video photographers.
